Sports orthopaedics / traumatology

Athletes are demanding patients because their sport is demanding. This is why a large part of our work consists of a thorough medical history and clinical examination. Even after successful therapy, the care is not over: an optimal return to play requires intensive collaboration between Treatment team and patient.

Clarifying the cause of a trauma involving external violence is part of the so-called anamnesis. This is essential to prevent re-injury after successful therapy. By taking a medical history, it is easier to make a decision in favour of conservative or surgical treatment. Many overuse injuries and injuries can be treated conservatively, e.g. with functional training, shock wave therapy, injection therapy with "autologous blood", eccentric training and taping. If necessary, sports injuries can also be treated using minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Arthroscopy knee

Alongside the shoulder, the knee is probably the most complicated joint in the body. However, its complexity also makes it susceptible to injury - especially during sport. Falls, collisions, twisting of the knee, incorrect posture or overloading, e.g. through frequent running and jumping, can put a lot of strain on the knee. Knee injuries and complaints can occur acutely, but can also develop slowly. If this is the case, an expert examination and treatment by an experienced specialist is recommended.

Shoulder arthroscopy

Alongside the knee, the shoulder is a joint that is very frequently affected by injuries and illnesses. Contact sports such as basketball, football or martial arts in particular often lead to injuries that can result in long-term absence from sport and everyday life, as shoulder injuries are accompanied by pain and sometimes even severe movement restrictions. If you suffer shoulder pain due to sport or a Accident If you have a problem with your skin, an expert examination and treatment by an experienced specialist is recommended.

Conservative therapy

Some findings can be treated well with conservative therapy. The aim is to alleviate the pain of those affected and restore mobility. The diseased joints should be relieved and protected from incorrect or excessive strain. This often alleviates the symptoms. Conservative therapy includes physiotherapy, physical therapy, manual treatments and orthopaedic aids such as hand sticks, buffer heels and elevated inner edges of shoes. These approaches can be supplemented by the administration of medication.
