The treatment of chronic wounds, diabetic foot, infectious wound and bone healing disorders and joint infections are the main tasks of "septic surgery", and they belong in the hands of an experienced doctor. Every treatment of skin, soft tissue or bone infections is a challenge, a challenge that we face with expertise, care and many years of experience.
Chronic wounds
Around 4 million people in Germany suffer from chronic wounds. These wounds are skin defects of various causes that do not close within 1-2 months despite treatment. The most common causes are chronic venous insufficiency, arterial circulatory disorders, diabetes mellitus or pressure damage. A combination of different causes is also frequently found. Every chronic wound is associated with restrictions in the patient's everyday activities, mobility and quality of life.
The most important step in successful wound treatment is the radical cleansing of the tissue affected by the infection, the so-called "Debridement", this step must not be omitted for fear of developing defects. As responsible surgeons, we not only carry out the "surgical work", we also perform some of the necessary diagnostics and actively involve other medical specialities and therapists if necessary (radiologist, dermatologist, diabetologist, vascular surgeon, orthopaedic technician).
Our aim is to shorten the duration of treatment, improve mobility and quality of life and speed up reintegration into working life. With this consistent therapy, wounds that have existed for years can also be healed within an appropriate period of time.

Infections after operations
Despite state-of-the-art techniques and standardised skin disinfection, infections after surgical procedures cannot be ruled out. They occur in particular after operations on bones and soft tissue following accidents, joint punctures or the installation of an artificial joint.
These bone or joint infections are among the most serious complications in trauma surgery and orthopaedics. The treatment of these patients is difficult and demanding and belongs in the hands of a specialist. These patients in particular, who require special and comprehensive care, are often left alone and do not receive adequate treatment. We offer you extensive experience in this field of surgery. Depending on the complexity of the operation, the necessary procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis in our operating theatre or as an inpatient in our affiliated hospital.
